Phoenix Lock Rekeying

Home Rekey Service in Phoenix, AZ

Keep your locks, change the key. In-shop rekeys from $20 per keyhole, or $90 per door at your home.

Affordable Lock Rekeying Across the Valley

A lock rekey resets the pins inside your lock so old keys stop working and a new key takes over, without replacing the hardware. ACME Locksmith rekeys homes and businesses across the Phoenix metro, in shop from $20 to $35 per keyhole depending on the lock type, or at your location for $90 per door plus the service call. We can key multiple locks alike so one key opens everything. Veteran-owned, Arizona ROC licensed, in business since 1995, fully bonded and insured.

Why Rekey Instead of Replace

Rekeying is the smart, low-cost way to take control of who has access.

Cost-effective

Change the lock’s internal pins instead of buying new hardware. In-shop rekeys run $20 to $35 per keyhole.

Stops old keys

Old keys no longer work, protecting you from previous occupants, lost keys, and former employees.

One key for all

Key compatible locks alike so a single key opens your doors.

What’s Included in an ACME Rekey

3″ Screws Added During a Rekey Service.

Every ACME rekey is a complete door rekey, not just new pins. A licensed locksmith comes to you, removes your existing locks, re-pins them to a brand-new key, lubricates the cylinders, and reinstalls them. Then we do what most locksmiths skip: we adjust the strikes so the bolt lines up cleanly, and if the door is sagging, we fix the sag, so the door opens, closes, and locks smoothly. We finish by installing 3.5-inch screws through the hinges and strike plate, anchoring the door frame into the studs behind the drywall. That single step reinforces the door and improves its resistance to a kick-in by up to three times. Here is the math on why that works: how 3-inch screws stop kick-ins. One visit, one price, and you walk away with a door that’s both rekeyed and noticeably harder to break into.

Rekey or Replace?

In most cases rekeying is all you need. It is far cheaper than replacing a lock because we only change the pin setup, not the whole lock, and your hardware stays exactly as secure, often more so once old keys stop working.

We rekey deadbolts, knob and lever sets, and most commercial locks. We can also rekey a new lock to match a key you already have, as long as the keyway is compatible. Need hardware fixed or installed? See lock repair and lock installation.

Max was here in a flash, and in and out in a flash, on a whole house and garage rekey!! He did an amazing job, and also informed us of other products and services they offer in their store, in which I was surprised they did. When You Should Rekey

Rekey any time you are not sure who holds a key: when you move into a home or business, after a rental turnover, when a key is lost or stolen, after a break-in, when an employee leaves, or when too many copies are floating around. New in the house? Change the mailbox lock at the same time, since the last owner’s mailbox keys still work too. It is faster and cheaper than replacing the locks and it instantly cuts off every old key.

Running a Business?

Got a building with multiple doors and staff? That needs a commercial master key system, not a rekey.

Brands We Rekey

We rekey Kwikset, Schlage, Yale, Baldwin, Emtek, Weiser, Mul-T-Lock, and Medeco, including Kwikset SmartKey cylinders. If another company tells you a lock cannot be rekeyed, get a second opinion, most can.

What It Costs to Rekey Locks

Rekeying is far cheaper than replacing your locks. The price mostly comes down to how many cylinders you have and whether we come to you or you bring the locks into a shop.

Home: we price home rekeys at $90 per door, no matter how many keyholes are on it, and whether or not you have the current keys. Don’t need the door work? It’s $25 to $35 per keyhole. Service calls in Phoenix typically run $95 to $125 during regular business hours, so a 3-door home usually runs $170 to $395. Bring the cylinders to a shop yourself and it’s $20 to $35 per keyhole with no service call. See the full cost to rekey a home.

How rekeying is priced in Phoenix

Locksmiths price a rekey one of two ways: per keyhole or per door. Most companies quote per keyhole, usually $25 to $35 each, plus a service call. Service calls in Phoenix typically run $95 to $125 during regular business hours.

We price home rekeys per door: $90 per door, no matter how many keyholes are on it, and whether or not you have the current keys. That door price includes:

  • Rekeying and repinning every keyhole on the door
  • Removing, cleaning, lubricating and reinstalling the lock hardware
  • Adjusting the door alignment and the strikes
  • Installing six 3-inch security screws, two in each hinge and two in the deadbolt strike

Just moved into a newer home and don’t need the door work? You can pay per keyhole instead: $25 to $35 per keyhole, depending on the lock type and whether you have working keys. That covers removing, repinning, cleaning, lubricating and reinstalling the lock.

Bring the locks to one of our shops and it’s $20 to $35 per keyhole, depending on the lock type and whether it’s master keyed. No service call.

A 3-door home in Phoenix typically runs $170 to $395. Where yours lands depends on how it’s priced: per keyhole for a straight rekey, or per door for the full package with door alignment, strike adjustment and 3-inch security screws. The number of keyholes on each door matters too.

Prices as of October 2026.

Business: commercial rekeys are usually done on site, about a $100 to $130 trip charge plus roughly $30 to $50 per cylinder, with small surcharges for IC cores, high-security cylinders, panic bars, or tying locks into a master key. See commercial locksmith services for business rekeys and master keying.

Rekey FAQ

How can I tell if my locks can be keyed alike?

Check whether one existing key slides into every lock, even if it does not turn them. If it fits all of them, the locks share a keyway and we can rekey them to open from a single key.

How long does a rekey take?

Usually about 10 to 15 minutes per standard lock.
