Schlage makes several several smart locks and the factory reset for several of the Schlage smart locks vary depending on which lock you have. We discuss the most common factory reset options for the Schlage electronic deadbolts.

It can be difficult to tell one Schlage electronic smart deadbolt from another, especially because they also come in different styling options and some with lever options (as opposed to deadbolts). The keypad appearance is the give away to identifying, but Schlage includes the part number of their deadbolts on white stickers on the inside of all of their locks. You can see this once you remove either the battery cover or the back of the lock.

How to Reset the Schlage Encode (BE489) Lock

The Schlage Encode smart lock with built-in WiFi is our favorite Schlage electronic deadbolt.  You can identify the Schlage Encode by it’s part number BE489. You can see read a detailed review of the Schlage Encode product in our Article Review of the Schlage Encode Smart Lock. So if you’ve bought a home that has one of these locks, that’s an excellent place to have a look at the features of your lock.

Resetting the lock will completely erase all codes and reset the lock to the user-default codes that can be found on the white sticker beneath the battery cover. Take note of these codes.




To factory reset the Schlage Encode BE489 Lock you:

  1. First need to remove the back cover plate to expose the inside of the lock.
  2. Press and hold the reset button of the lock. When your first press it the led light will begin to flash red. HOLD the reset button until the led light stops flashing.
  3. This starts the reset sequence within the lock. When the reset is complete, the led will light blue. This may take up to 10 seconds.
  4. The lock is now reset, but it will also need to determine how it is installed on the door. Enter one of the default user codes to initiate that process.

 

How to Reset a Schlage Connect BE468 or BE469 Smart Lock

The Schlage Connect (Models BE468 and BE469) is another popular version of the Schlage Smart Lock Deadbolt series.

Schlage Connect locks are model numbers BE468 and BE469. If you are not sure you have a Schlage Connect,  find the white label by removing the back of the lock. To do this, simply remove a top and center screw on the backside of the lock. The center screw is visible, that top screw if visible after the battery cover has been removed.

You will also need the default codes that came with the lock. Those codes are also on the white sticker within the lock so jot them down.




To factory Reset the Schlage Connect BE468/BE469 Smart Locks

  1. Slide off the battery cover.
  2. Disconnect the battery terminal.
  3. Now press and HOLD the Schlage button on the front of the lock.
  4. While holding the Schlage button, reattach the battery terminal.
  5. The green check on the keypad will flash three times and the inside Schlage button will flash three times.
  6. To complete the reset, the lock must go through it’s auto handing process to re-learn how it is installed. To do this, enter one of the default user codes that came with the lock and are on the white label.

 

How to Reset the Schlage Touch (FE695 and BE375) Locks

With this lock you will also need your default user code in order to complete the factory reset. On this lock, the white label that has the serial number and the default user codes is on the back of the outside portion of the lock. Retrieve the default codes if you do not know them.

How to reset your Schlage Touch FE695 or BE375 Lock

  1. Disconnect the battery.
  2. Press and release the Schlage button on the outside of the lock.
  3. The following steps must occur within 10 seconds:
    • Reconnect the battery terminal. The indicator light will light green for one second.
    • Press and hold the Schlage button until the indicator light is green and the lock beeps.
  4. Confirm the lock has been reset by opening the lock with one of the default User Codes.

How to Reset a Schlage Electronic BE365 or BE575/595 Lock

The last Schlage electronic lock we’re going to discuss is one of our Favorite, Affordable Electronic Deadbolts. It’s a well built lock and if you’ve bought a home that has one, it is ideal for basic, keyless access via a pin code.

With this lock you will also need your default user codes to complete the factory reset. Their is a white label that has the serial number and the default user codes for the lock on the back of the outside portion of the lock. Retrieve the default codes if you do not know them.




To Reset a Schlage Electronic BE365 or BE575/595 Lock:

  1. Disconnect the battery.
  2. Press and release the Schlage button on the front of the lock.
  3. The following steps must occur within 10 seconds:
    • Reconnect the battery. The Schlage button will light green for one second.
    • Then, press and hold the Schlage button until it lights green and the lock beeps.
  4. Confirm the lock has been reset by entering one of the default User Codes.
